A Quantum of Solace
A Bunch of Us Visited 1925 to Figure Out 2025 The North Sea was behind me, its gusts threatening to knock me off my perch. Matt gripped my ankle, steadying me on the slick metal of the electrical panel box. Precarious, but these few extra feet of height made all the difference for this once-in-a-century shot. And I had a decision to make on the spot. Before me, 300 quantum physicists clustered on an embankment in a formation as fragile as my footing. Their sheer numbers and

Filming in NYC with Jenann Ismael and Natalie Wolchover
We thought this shoot was going to be easy—no travel required! But New York City did what it does and threw three construction crews next to our booked filming location. After a last minute scramble on the morning of the shoot, we found a location even more beautiful and fitting than the first. The perfect space for our conver

Filming begins! With Carlo Rovelli and Katie Mack at Perimeter Institute
Today was a very big day for us. We officially started filming! After the campaign wrapped up we took a few months to set everything in motion, from fleshing out the scientific narrative, honing the creative approach, talking to the scientists and philosophers who will participate, and of course building our production team. With all (most?) of the pieces in place, we officially started filming the first interviews: one with cosmologist Katie Mack and another with theoretical

Wrapping the Interviews: The Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton
Today's stop: the Institute for Advanced Study to film interviews with Nima Arkani-Hamed and Juan Maldacena. On what had to be one of the coldest days of the winter, we traveled down to Princeton New Jersey to put up our set at the Marquand House at the IAS. Founded in the 1930’s, the IAS is one of the world’s preeminent centers for theoretical research. It's been the academic home for Albert Einstein, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Hermann Weyl, John von Neumann, Paul Dirac, and K
